Rest in Him

Things are piling up right now and I am really getting busy. I’m preparing my message on Saturday, monitoring the progress of registration for B1G8, establishing a system or process for the worship team, finishing all my deliverables in work and preparing for our Dgroup activity on Friday. And when things really get so busy and I feel overwhelmed by it, there is that still small voice speaking inside of me to withdraw from everything and pray. That is what Jesus did, after feeding five thousand people, he went away to pray.

46 After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.  (Mark 6:46)

It is in that moment of prayer that he strengthens me and reminds me to just focus on him. Even though there are so many things to do and my energy is being exhausted, if I focus my eyes on Him alone and think about his love for me – I am strengthened to continue the work.

Life can really get so busy, no doubt about it. That’s reality. But it’s also true that God wants to help you. He is willing to help carry you through. I have never realized this entirely until now. I have been too concerned with all the things that I need to do that I keep on praying about it to God. And in my requests and prayers, I feel I keep on bombarding Him with these that’s why he will help me. Not realizing that it’s not because I keep on asking that he will help me but because He wants to help me. He gave the invitation. He said “come to me all who are weary”.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

We just need to take the time to approach him in prayer, come with our request and rest upon his goodness and love. He loves us and wants to help carry our burden or tasks. He wants us to experience Him in the midst of all the concerns in life.

When was the last time you withdrew and just spent time in prayer? I would love to hear how the Lord gave you rest despite the busyness of life.
