Me on a cliff (Mt. Pico de Loro)I know this is a common term that we use. We’re sometimes pushed to the limit by circumstances in life and even if we were able to go through it we’re pushed again to the limit by another problem. It can get tiring. You may even be tempted to blame God why this is happening – not even realizing how Satan attacks. Or worse, you may give up and not push yourself anymore.

But why are we pushed to the limit? Why can’t life be just all rainbows and butterflies? Why are there hardships? Can’t life be just smooth and easy? Maybe your reading this hoping to get a specific answers to these question. But to be honest with you, I won’t have all the answers to these questions. But there is one thing I do know.

11 For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11, NASB)

For some, this may well be a verse that you are already familiar with. But have you truly been able to apply it? Are you learning to respond well to difficult circumstance because you know that God has a plan therefore we can calmly trust in his care? Are you able to put your knowledge or faith into action?

The Lord has always pushed me to be a better man. Sometimes, I admit, I don’t want to go through the fire. It’s hard. To be tested by fire is to experience the fire. But the result can be amazing – the praise and glory of Jesus Christ

In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:6-7, NASB)

Because if we’ve been able to push ourselves to the limit by getting the strength that we need from trusting in him and his great plan for us then in the end it will definitely result in praise to him. Because at the weakest point of your life that is the time that he is glorified – his strength manifesting in your weakness.

Push yourself to the limit and always aim to be Christ-like. He has great plans for you that’s why you are being refined through the fire. Let him take you through. He will show you why this has to happen. He will show you that He will be your strength if you will allow him. Rest in Him.

Are you pushed to the limit right now?
